Wireless Television - Understand The Concept Of Going Unwired

Wireless television takes the concept of televisions being able to receive signals. This is referred to as an over-the-air signal. Traditionally, coaxial cables are used to deliver these services to their subscribers and more recently HDMI are being used for high definition signals. However, there are scattered areas that these cables are not able to reach and too expensive to set up. Wireless technology is capable to reach out to these remote and scattered places, therefore it has a high demand in these certain areas.

A number of companies came together to come up with the latest single standard in wireless TV. This is known as Wireless Home Digital Interface. These companies include the biggest name in the industry: AMIMON, Hitachi, Motorola, Samsung, Sharp and Sony. Wireless television systems also have its competition. Apple is also developing their concept in wireless TV innovations which they named Apple TV, formerly named iTV. Apple TV’s concept makes use of a transmitter known as Airport Extreme which is based on Wi-Fi technology 802.11.

The concept of wireless technology has been used by computers over the years. This is better known as Wi-Fi. Although most people term it for wireless fidelity, it still pertains to wireless internet connection. The same concept is being adapted by video application and television networks to provide wireless technology.

Going wireless has its share of advantages. One of the main advantages is its convenience where wires and cables are no longer necessary to get connected. Wireless connection can make it easier for wall mounted TVs where wires can be hardly installed in this case.  Going wireless can provide a lot of advantages. You can take it anywhere even in remote places so long as you have a satellite hub and signals are transmitted smoothly.

As there are advantages there are disadvantages as well. As mentioned wireless television’s concept is based on transmitting signals, these signals can be disturbed one way or the other as there are many electronic items that transmit signals as well. This can cause problems in receiving transmissions and may cause poor reception.

Wireless television is another break through in home theater entertainment and has gone a long way to improve our viewing lifestyle. There are many innovations being introduced in the market. Clearly this is one of the innovations that have raised consumer demands especially in places that are hardly reached by cable connections. Looking at the pros and cons of wireless innovations, people are still intrigued about what is new that the technology has to offer.
